Cozy Fireside Lunch

The sun is shining and there’s not a cloud in the sky, it’s a perfect day to enjoy lunch by the fire… the forecast for today is 48, a bit too chilly for a picnic outside.

In my last post I mentioned how much I was enjoying seeing some new (or maybe new again) color combinations for fall, this is another combo I’m enjoying – orange and blue. The colors compliment each other so well. Blue & white is everywhere these days so I figured I might as well try to jump on board with the cool kids. Just today I saw that Tea Time magazine posted an outdoor tablescape featuring the blue and orange color combo.

You may notice some inconsistencies in my pictures. Initially, I had set this up on the coffee table but then I realized that I wasn’t going to ask my guest to sit on the floor to eat lunch. That would have been supremely awkward especially if I’d used those tureens for our soup. However, since all the photos were already taken I decided to use them.

In this picture I’ve moved everything to a card table and brought it some chairs… aaaahhhh, that’s so much more civilized (and comfortable 😉)

I just love this pattern but it’s now gotten a bit pricey (all resale) and I’m not sure I’ll be adding to it. I only have the two salad plates and since I’ve recently purchased some Liberty Blue, which I used for my Independence Day table, do I really need two sets of blue & white. Come to think of it, there’s a thought floating around in my head that I was going to see how it looked with this setting. Oh well, maybe next time.

I love these pumpkins but in reality they’re much too large for a single serving of soup. You can see how much space they take up on the salad plate.

This table setting represents quite a mixture of acquisitions; the Lauren salad plates, pitcher and tiered server were all purchased at different times from different stores, The tea pot is from Bed Bath & Beyond, the cream (milk for tea) & sugar are ironstone from GW, the cups are Alex Liddy from Home Goods, the napkins are Pier1, and the flatware is from a local discount store. Oh and THE most important bits that just pull it all together – the tablecloth (piece of flannel) and the RIBBON are from JoAnn’s!!  😁

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!
