Falling in Love with Fall, again

As I sit here on a cool, windy autumn day enjoying some hot chocolate and graham crackers I’m reminded of how much I love this time of year. Sure, there are several things on my ‘to do’ list today but more than anything else this feel like the perfect lazy Sunday. Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

Colors of Autumn
I love tradition and mostly I prefer the status quo but over the last few years I’ve warmed to the change in seasonal palettes. Having said that, it does occur to me that what I view as traditional colors have changed several times over the years. One just need look at vintage Christmas cards and decor to see that there was a time when red and green were not very prominent.

As far as fall, I’m not as sure that there has been as much variation from the reds, oranges and yellows that are immortalized on appliances and upholstery from the 1970’s. 😉  I’m very pleased to see the addition of shades of blue, teal and blush to fall decor.

I made the centerpiece last year or the year before at a Michael’s class, this was my first step into slightly different color palette. When I found the ceramic pumpkins I knew I wanted to add them to my decor stash.

I guess I could have lined up the medallions on the tablecloth a little better but I’m just noticing that right this minute. Looking closely at the plate and the tablecloth it may seem like the patterns clash but for some reason it all works together.

I added the doily just for a bit of texture and because it was sort of just hanging around begging to be included when I was pulling everything together. It does appear to be repeating the edges on some of the medallions.

Lastly, the aerial view of the table. The early fall light turned out to be a bit of challenge that I didn’t notice until I was editing. Perhaps I should have closed the blinds a bit to diffuse the glare coming in through the windows.

  1. This is a lovely table! Those teal pumpkins are amazing – I need to find some, too. I'm enjoying the trend of mixing blue and teal with the "traditional" fall colors.

    1. Thank you Joy, I'm so happy you stopped for a visit. I hope you are able to find some teal pumpkins, those are from Tuesday Morning either last year or two years ago.

  2. Very pretty. I like the orange and teal combination but until I saw it in your post I wouldn’t have thought they would look good together. I think that the prettiest and most traditional seasonal colours are those that Mimic what is happening in nature.

    1. Thank you! I agree, nature puts on a much better display than I could ever hope to recreate. Around here sometimes the colors on the trees look fake.

  3. Such a pretty table! Congrats on your feature at Make It Pretty Monday… we would love to have you link up at Tuesday Turn About via myweeabode.com today at 5pm CST! Hope to see you there!

    1. Thank you Julie! I hadn't caught up with my other email so I didn't know I'd been featured until I read your comments, what a pleasant surprise! Thank you for the invitation, I'll be sure to join.
